A Perfect Opportunity

Updated: Nov 26, 2024

So, we’ve recently had quite an eventful time with some teen boys in our neighborhood.

It started last year with them smashing our porch pumpkins, and now recently slamming on our door late at night.

Being quite honest, it’s been VERY frustrating.

My husband Tanner even chased them to figure out where they lived, and nothing. We even had police drive around!

Last night it happened again. Twice. And I was pretty fed up. I kept reciting all the nasty things I wanted to say to them if they got caught, I tried to think of every way I could be in control of the situation, everything! I was fuming.

I saw nothing good about the situation and kept assuming the worst.

But as I was ranting in the bathroom mirror to myself about how terrible those boys were,

I felt God remind me “they are loved by me too.”

And I stopped. I took a breath, and focused.

While it wasn’t right what those boys were doing, they were also loved by God. And I needed to change how I viewed the situation, and my role in it.

After taking a step back to look at the situation, I realized, this was a God given opportunity to practice patience, prayer, and trusting Him.

Why get angry at these boys, when I can lift them up in prayer instead?

Why wish negative things upon them when I can speak life, hope, and Gods purpose over them?

So all this to say, whatever trying situation is bothering you right now, take a step back, and ask God what you can be learning from it instead!

It won’t always be easy or fun, but when we rely on HIM, He brings you through.

Don’t miss the God given lessons because you’re blinded by emotions and circumstances!

Psalm 16:8 -

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Philippians 4:13 -

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
