Embrace Your Role: How to be a Biblical Wife

Updated: Nov 21, 2024

In today's society, the role of a wife is often misunderstood or undervalued. However, as women of faith, we are called to embrace our role as wives according to biblical principles. The Bible provides us with a blueprint for marriage and outlines the characteristics of a godly wife.

One key aspect of being a biblical wife is submitting to your husband. This does not mean being a doormat or losing your voice, but rather respecting and honoring your husband's leadership in the marriage. Ephesians 5:22-24 reminds us, "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands." Another important aspect of being a biblical wife is being a helpmate to your husband. Genesis 2:18 tells us, "Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him'." As a wife, our role is to support and encourage our husbands in their God-given roles as leaders of our families. Additionally, Proverbs 31 gives us a beautiful picture of a godly wife. She is described as a woman of strength, dignity, and wisdom. She cares for her family, manages her home well, and is a blessing to her husband. Striving to embody these qualities can help us become the wives that God has called us to be. As we navigate the challenges and joys of marriage, it is essential to turn to God's word for guidance and wisdom. By embracing our role as biblical wives, we can cultivate a strong and fulfilling marriage that honors God. Remember, being a biblical wife is not about perfection, but about a heart that seeks to follow God's design for marriage. Join our community of like-minded women who are on a similar journey.
