Handling Holidays With Hubby

As the holiday crazies hit us all this year, remember to look out for our spouses as we navigate this time of year!

And with that, here are a few tips I have to nurture your marriage, and how you can show him a little extra love this season!

  1. Be Mindful.

It can be a stressful time for people this time round, especially for those husbands who are the sole providers of the household. So this time round take the time to really think about what you spend and how you spend it. One of the best ways to show your hubby you appreciate his hard work is to be wise with how you put to use the fruits of his labor!

  1. Take an extra dose of patience.

Trust me when I say I get the holidays can be a stressful time for some people.

And that also means there's more room for the enemy to slip in to try and plant seeds of division or stress in your marriage! One way to combat this is simply by having a little extra patience and love. Remember to give each other an extra helping of grace this time around, and tell each other I love you more than you bring up small annoyances.

  1. Sew seeds of love.

No matter the season, it's ALWAYS important to tell your spouse and show them, you care.

But why not make it extra special in honor of the season?

Try a new and fun holiday drink or meal together.

Watch a holiday film. Do a holiday craft, the options are endless!

Whatever it is you do, honoring your spouse and loving them a little extra is one of the healthiest and best things you can do.

  1. Reflect on what the Lord has done for you this year.

My husband and I always end up doing this every year, and I notice our relationship with God, and each other grow when we do it.

Sit together, take a moment, and reflect on how you've both seen God move in your marriage, and individual lives this year.

Sit in this reflection, praise Him for his goodness, and start praying that He will continue to work in your lives as the new year approaches.

Praising and praying together is one of the greatest weapons against the enemy.

I pray these tips will help grow and strengthen your relationship with the Lord and with your spouse this season. And remember; don't let the holiday craze distract you from tending to your relationship with God, and your spouse.

Happy Holidays!
